If Your Brand Looks Thrown Together, Customers Assume Your Work Is Too

People decide whether they trust you in the first few seconds — and most of that judgment happens before you ever say a word. It's based on how you look.
Stanford researchers spent years studying what makes people trust a business online. Their Web Credibility Guidelines found that people judge credibility overwhelmingly on design and presentation — how professional and put-together something looks — far more than on the actual substance behind it. Fair or not, that's how customers decide who to trust.
The problem
When I audit a business's brand, I usually find:
- A logo that doesn't match the website, which doesn't match the business card, which doesn't match the Facebook page.
- Three or four different shades of the same color, because nobody ever set the real ones.
- Fonts and styles that change from one thing to the next.
- A DIY look that quietly whispers "small and unsure" to the exact customers you want to charge more.
None of that means your work is bad. But customers can't see your work yet — they can only see your brand. And a scattered brand tells them to be cautious.
What I'd do about it
I build a cohesive brand identity — a clean logo, a defined color palette, consistent type — and then apply it everywhere: your website, your socials, your cards, your ads. When everything lines up, you stop looking like a hobby and start looking like the obvious professional choice. That consistency is exactly what my branding work is built to give you.
If your brand looks pieced-together, let's make it look like the business you actually are.
